Intro

To log in to the Examcraft Formative  you just need to access the link below:

Editing / changing questions

You can use Examcraft Formative for different types of assessment, depending on your students needs. It may be interesting to edit some questions from the bank of questions, such as changing the nature of the question. i.e: change a multiple choice to a short answer, elevate the level of difficulty of questions to challenge your students in the most relevant way. Or even add a new question that you can create from scratch.

Challenging the students with higher order questions can indicate exactly where and why a topic is not clear, based on their answer.

Creating different types of assessment

Your students need a little extra help with a topic? Would you like to challenge them? You can also create your own Formatives using our bank of questions, or even all from scratch!

By creating a new Formative and naming it, you can proceed to select from the library and navigate through all your Formatives and contents from your school. There you can choose which questions and how many you would like to use.

That is a great option to review a subject or enhance the difficulty of the questions chosen based on your class performance. Or even create different types of assessments and homework exercises by combining with different settings of  the ‘Assign’ feature.

Sharing content

Once you have your Formatives, you can add collaborators, or share a copy with a peer from your school. This is a great way for the head of a subject department to distribute content among teachers.

If you have a co-teacher to a classroom you can add them as teachers to the formative, and they will have the same access as you, also to edit and assign that formative.

By selecting a formative on your dashboard, a menu will appear at the bottom of your screen, you will see the option ‘share’, in that menu you can select how you would like to share, by adding a collaborator, publishing to your school’s library or just send a copy.

If you select to add a collaborator or publish to library any edits you doin the future to the content will update, if you choose to send a copy, a version of that formative will be sent as it is.

Using different settings of ‘Assign’ feature

For classroom exercises the option ‘Teacher Paced Mode’ allows the teachers the option to control the pace of questions so the whole class can progress together! The self-paced lessons and assessments provide real-time data, so teachers can send immediate feedback. You can also use the chat function to send a private message to a student.

You can also enable/disable the following options: ‘Display each item as a separate page’, ‘Restrict to individual students’ and ‘Schedule open/closed times’.

If you want to create a test the option of ‘Time limit’ allows you to set a timer for the students, they will be limited to the specified time to complete this formative. Once they begin, the timer cannot be paused.

You can also ‘allow edits’ from students with the ‘After submission’ options, or ‘make hidden’, or only ‘keep visible (no edits allowed)’.

It is also possible to customise when and how to ‘Return scores’ to students: ‘After student submits’, ‘ Instantly’, ‘Don’t show scores’ or ‘When closed’. In relation to ‘Return correct answers’, you can also choose how your students will see it: ‘After student submits’, ‘Don’t show answers’ or ‘When closed’. By choosing the different options you can use the same content in different formats, allow your students to compete, and create different levels of challenge to suit the needs of your classes.

‘Display questions in a random order’ is recommended for an exam or when you do not want students to exchange answers and ideas, basically avoid them to cheat.

Scores and Tracking

You can edit the score of a determined question according to your student’s answer, so you don’t need to rely solely on the technology to ensure your students’ results are the most appropriate.

Using the tracker can give you different levels of insight into your students’ learning journey, as individuals and as a class. It also works as a portal to provide feedback after a student submits a Formative, where you can write, record audio or video too.

Using the chat & feedback features:

The chat is a great feature to help your students, where you can exchange real time messages/comments about a specific question from a formative. It is possible to use this feature to leave comments on homework or other assignments, as the students will receive a notification and will have access to that comment, which they can refer to when studying at home, or whenever is convenient for them.

Audio/Video feedback

The same way you can type to communicate with your students, you can also provide an audio (voicenote) or a video feedback if you consider it relevant, a great feature for languages. By selecting the option + you will be able to add the different types of media.

Congratulations!
